The long-term vision of the ORCHESTRA is to enable multi-modal traffic management based on common architecture, organisational practices and technical smart infrastructures. The results from the project will supports an adaptive and resilient transport network where it is easy to manage transport and associated services within and across all transport modes coping with diverse demands and situations.
The project will:
* Establish a common understanding of multimodal traffic management concepts and solutions, within and across different modes, for various stakeholders and for various contexts
* Define a polycentric multimodal architecture (PMA) enabling a multimodal traffic management ecosystem enhancing performance within and across all modes
* Support safe and efficient implementation of the PMA
* Validate and calibrate the PMA with respect to organisational issues, functionality, capability, usability and business issues * Maximise outreach and uptake of project results through strong stakeholder involvement, providing evidence of benefits and wider communication of the results
The project will validate the PMA and related tools in 2 uses cases implemented as living labs, both in Norway and in Italy, involving both road, rail, water and air transport. To ensure outreach and exploitation of the project results ORCHESTRA will involve, besides the project partners, a Community of Practitioners (CoP) comprising representatives from all modes, roles and selected scenarios. Total value of the project is 5 million €.
