Cooperation and competence building

The association was established in 2004 and its main activity is to offer meeting places (seminars, conferences, excursions, etc.) for the members so that expertise can be shared and strengthened. The aim is to create projects that develop the sector, find business partners and develop new markets for the members. Every year, ITS Norway organizes several national conferences and seminars, and the association takes delegations to the European and global ITS congresses.

Professional focus and business development

The association has around 90 members and partners from all modes of transport, as well as from research, education, industry, service providers, public transport authorities, and municipalities/county councils. The network covers both passenger and freight transport across all modes: sea, air, rail, and road. When you are a member of ITS Norway, you are automatically also a member of the Nordic unit, Nordic+.

Our members want a stronger focus on business development, collaboration, and enhanced competitiveness.

Climate and the sustainability goals

The sustainability goals are a strong driver for the association’s activities. Surveys show that many companies in the transport sector lack climate strategies and as the authorities set stricter requirements for emissions, the association will be able to contribute. The association has an active relationship with the UN’s sustainability goals and most of the projects the association participates in are characterized by this.

Strategy

The association’s strategic focus areas for the period 2024–2026 are:

1) Market Development: ITS Norway will contribute to enabling the industry to develop and deliver its solutions to a larger national and international market. The association will help ensure that companies and organizations share knowledge and develop solutions and products to address today’s and future transport and climate challenges.

2) Multimodality: ITS Norway will work to make the transport sector more integrated and seamless in the transitions between different modes of transport. The association will also strive to develop these modes so that infrastructure across all transport forms can be utilized more effectively and efficiently.
