Join Nordic+ and ITS Norway for a professional study tour to Japan, focusing on some of the world’s most advanced transport systems, urban mobility solutions and applied transport technologies.
The programme is designed for transport authorities, public transport authorities, rail, cities, ministries, industry, research and academia, combining strategic perspectives with operational learning.
The study tour will focus on:
- Smart cities and integrated transport systems
- AI, data and digital infrastructure
- Rail operations and efficiency
- Public transport and passenger flow
- Autonomy in practice, including OEM perspectives
- Maritime transport
- Research, innovation and applied implementation
The purpose of the programme is to learn from Japan, strengthen Nordic collaboration and build long-term international networks.

Cost
Japan programme fee: NOK 22 500 per person
Includes:

ITS Norway / Nordic+ will share recommended flights and hotel options for those who wish to travel together. A participant information meeting will also be arranged with more practical details.
Optional: ITS World Congress in South Korea
Participants who wish to extend the trip may also join us in South Korea in the days before the Japan study tour, from 18–20 October, to attend the ITS World Congress in Gangneung. This is optional and arranged at each participant’s own cost, including congress participation, travel, accommodation and related expenses. Read more about the Congress here.
Participants may therefore either join us directly in Tokyo on Wednesday 21 October, or combine the Japan study tour with the optional South Korea programme beforehand.
