Benefits from just-in-time port calls depend on digital standardization – how do we reach an agreement on the specifications?
Just-in-time (JIT) port calls require more extensive coordination between ship and port parties. This in turn require wide spread uptake of digital message exchange, and as ships travel all over the world, internationally standardized message specifications are needed. A workshop arranged by BIMCO and the DYNAPORT project in April 2026 convened 45 international experts to discuss this issue. Although no unified agreement was reached on what specifications to use, three principles for further work was formulated.
This webinar revisits the conclusions from the workshop and proposes a possible way ahead based on the PCO network’s “Port Call Optimization Guide”.

- Mrs. Marianne Hagaseth from SINTEF Ocean, Data model lead in DYNAPORT and project leader ISO 28005-2, giving an overview of the IMO Compendium and recent developments within ISO 28005. This includes a brief overview of other data models, but also possible paths towards a common agreement on what messaging standards to use.
